The Compendium aims to reconstruct the translation journey that has led our great Peninsula authors to be transposed in other cultures. It is not intended to be a catalogue of data and references, but rather a map through which it is possible to navigate among the translations of the selected Italian pieces in the world; and it is a point of departure for qualitive investigations, both from a comparative and a contrastive perspective, in diachrony as well as in synchrony.

The Compendium, as a pilot project, starts with some great Italian authors who marked the Modern era: Giordano Bruno, Tommaso Campanella, Bernardino Telesio, Niccolò Machiavelli, Giovanbattista Vico.

The methods used are coherent with the main purpose of the Compendium: demonstrating that Italian culture is substratum of several other cultures that have come into contact with it.

The Compendium makes use of quantitative and qualitive analysis: bibliometric, statistical-linguistic, and sociolinguistic techniques; geo-cultural mapping systems.

Data is collected in a database on Google Sheets.
